CBS Daytime is taking its slogan "one big family" literally this week by featuring Matt Katrosar, the hubby of Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Newman), on The Young and the Restless.
Egan revealed on Instagram that Chelsea will soon be getting snatched from the Chancellor Mansion -- and the masked kidnapper is none other than her real-life sweetheart!
"When you have to get 'kidnapped' on the show you work on during Covid times, and no one's allowed to touch you...sometimes the husband has to come in and do the job," she teases. "Tune in Wednesday (but watch all week, it's gettin' real juicy!) to see @katrosar kill it as the 'masked man', (he prefers to be called Stryker)"
Having Katrosar step in for the kidnapping scenes is a crafty way for Y&R to film close-contact material while continuing to follow its strict COVID-19 safety guidelines. Spouses come from the same household, which eliminates the risk of coronavirus transmission while on set. The genius idea was originally used on Y&R's sister soap, The Bold and the Beautiful.
Revealed Denise Richards (Shauna Fulton) of B&B love scenes back in July, "We were asked if our significant others would step in. They said I could also have my love scenes with a mannequin -- which is fine -- but I'd much rather be with my husband!"
Spouses don't always do the trick, however, and B&B has had to rely on mannequins quite a bit -- and the show has even gone so far as to write one of the mannequins into storyline! Most of the doll action is done behind the scenes, though, and you can see a video of B&B stars filming scenes with mannequins by clicking here.
