Soap opera fans are sending lots of love to Jordi Vilasuso (Rey Rosales, The Young and the Restless; ex-Dario Hernandez, Days of our Lives; ex-Griffin Castillo, All My Children; ex-Tony Santos, Guiding Light), who reveals that coronavirus infected his entire family -- including him, his wife Kaitlin, and the couple's daughters, Riley, 7, and Evie, 3.
In a lengthy Instagram video, Vilasuso and Kaitlin explain that they caught COVID-19 the day before the Los Angeles stay-at-home orders were put into effect from a friend who later tested positive for the virus. The couple say that the timeline was their saving grace: because the lockdown happened the day after they became infected, neither went into public, meaning they did not spread COVID-19 further in the community. However, they did spread the virus to their daughters, which they say was terrifying because the "mild" symptoms actually included pneumonia.
"Thank you, God, our children went through it very easily," Kaitlin says. "But that doesn't mean that I wasn't absolutely terrified that one of them was going to have an issue with it and then they've got two parents who have COVID and can't be in the hospital with them. Scary -- stupid scary stuff."
Fortunately, all four Vilasuso family members seem to be healthy and recovered now, and they have gone public with their journey with the hope that it might be a source of comfort for anyone who fears they have caught the virus and are curious about the symptoms.
"We debated sharing this but finally decided to in the hope of possibly being a source of information or comfort to someone who might be in a similar situation," Kaitlin shares of the video, which also includes their thanks to the people on the front line who are helping those who are sick and the workers who are ensuring that people can still get necessities.
COVID-19 has unfortunately made its way to several daytime stars. Some who have shared their coronavirus symptoms and stories include Greg Rikaart (Kevin Fisher, Y&R; ex-Leo Stark, DAYS), Paulina Bugembe (Valerie Spencer, General Hospital), Chloe Lanier (Nelle Benson, GH), and Emma Samms (ex-Holly Sutton, GH).
