To say Eileen Davidson's time as The Young and the Restless' Ashley Abbott has been action-packed would be an understatement. The past 35 years have been jammed with enough intense, roller-coaster moments to last several lifetimes -- though that could never be enough for fans of the actress, who are devastated that Davidson's final episodes of the CBS soap opera are playing out this week. But before she bids adieu to Genoa City for good, Ashley's beloved portrayer is taking fans on a trip down memory lane.
The actress sat down for a video in which she rewatches many of the extraordinary events Ashley has gone through over the years, from that super dramatic Brent Davis paternity reveal, to facing off with "wicked" Diane Jenkins, to that time when she secretly artificially inseminated herself.
"We're going to go back in time together and have some fun, take a look back, and make fun of my hairstyles!" she jokes in the introduction of the two-minute video clip.
Following the flashback scenes, Davidson gives a special goodbye message to fans and even sheds a few tears while doing so.
"I just want to say what a pleasure it's been to perform on this show on and off for so many years, and my love and gratitude to all of you fans who have watched and cried and watched me grow up," she says before joking, "I'm so happy my hair came to some kind of positive endnote! And I hope I have also come to a positive endnote with all of you."
As for Y&R, the show's official Twitter handle shared a goodbye of its own along with Davidson's video clip, which you can view below.
"Ashley Abbott will always have a place in our hearts," the show tweeted. "Join @eileen_davidson on a walk down #YR memory lane as her time in Genoa City comes to a close. Make sure to tune in to her final episodes now through next Monday."
