Here's a "Rey" of light for Guiding Light fans: former Springfield favorite Jordi Vilasuso (ex-Tony Santos) is returning to CBS Daytime! The Florida native has landed a new role on The Young and the Restless.
Beginning August 17, Vilasuso will appear in Genoa City as a mysterious stranger named Rey. Vilasuso took to Instagram to share his excitement, teasing that he "can't wait til [fans] see what Rey's going to be stirring up in Genoa City!"
No other information is available at this time, including whether or not the GC newbie already has ties to other characters on the canvas.
Vilasuso has had a respectable career in daytime, starting with his role as GL's Tony, which he played from 2001 to 2003 and won a Daytime Emmy for in 2003. He then went on to play All My Children's Dr. Griffin Castillo from 2010 to 2011 and Days of our Lives' Dario Hernandez from 2016 to 2017. Somewhat ironically, it was one year ago today that Soap Central reported on Vialsuso's exit from DAYS.
Some of Vilasuso's additional projects include roles on South Beach, The Glades, and Fashion House. He most recently appeared in the film Killer Island, which you can read more about here.
UPDATE (August 13, 2018): With his first Y&R appearance just days away, CBS released a teaser video in which Vilasuso talks about returning to CBS and what viewers can expect from his character.
