Born November 1st, in Bluefield, West Virginia, Anna Stuart made her soap debut as the young heroine Toni Ferra on The Doctors in 1971. She remained on that show for six years. Toni was the most serious love interest for that show's young hero, Dr. Mike Powers (played during that time by a young Armand Assante).
After leaving that show, Anna moved to Los Angeles and accepted the part of feisty Dr. Gina Dante on General Hospital, a role she played from January of 1977 to March of 1978. She would later return to New York and sub for Maeve Kinkead (Vanessa Chamberlain) during Kinkead's maternity leave on from Guiding Light.
Stuart auditioned for the role of Felicia Gallant on NBC's Another World, but lost out on the part to actress Linda Dano. Show execs were so impressed by Stuart that they created a role just for her, the role of Donna Love. As the spoiled Donna, Stuart started off as a villainess, but slowly, her character reformed into one of the show's long-suffering heroines - who, in true soap fashion, occasionally lapsed into plotting and scheming. She left the show for two years, but returned in time for the show's 25th anniversary in 1989. Upon the cancellation of Another World in 1999, Stuart took her character to Another World's sister soap, As The World Turns. She made sporadic appearances on the CBS soap through 2002.
Stuart finally had a chance to step into the shows of one of Linda Dano's characters when, on April 25, 2002 she filled in for Dano's Rae Cummings on One Life to Live. Shortly thereafter, Stuart landed the recurring role of Mary Smythe on All My Children.
