Daytime stars, both past and present, will be on hand on May 16 to raise money to help fight cancer. Called Daytime Stands Up: A Benefit for Stand Up To Cancer...We All Have a Story, the event will feature performers from Days of our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless, as well as actors from classic soaps that no longer air.
Like millions of people every day, soap stars have endured their own cancer journeys, and they will be on hand to tell their stories. The Young and the Restless' Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) and Colleen Zenk (Aunt Jordan), along with General Hospital's Cameron Mathison (Drew Cain), will detail their survivor stories and offer hope.
Braeden will also share his memories of Meg Bennett, the actress who played Victor's first wife, Julia. She passed away on April 11 after a battle with cancer.
You will also hear from other actors as they pay tribute to co-stars who have passed. GH's Michael Easton (Hamilton Finn) will talk about Kamar De Los Reyes (Antonio Vega, One Life to Live). As the World Turns' Martha Byrne (Lily Walsh) will share memories of on-screen mom Elizabeth Hubbard (Lucinda Walsh), and Guiding Light's Liz Keifer (Christina "Blake" Thorpe Marler) will talk about Jerry ver Dorn (Ross Marler). GH star Jackie Zeman's two daughters, Cassidy and Lacey, will also honor their mom.
Finally, actors who have played characters who have suffered from breast cancer will talk about taking on such a story. They include Sharon Case (Sharon Collins, Y&R), Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott, Y&R), Erika Slezak (Viki Lord Buchanan, One Life to Live), Kim Zimmer (Reva Shayne, GL), and Tina Sloan (Lillian Raines, GL).
Starting on May 16, you can bid on items via eBay for ten days. They include a meet and greet with DAYS stars, as well as a Y&R script, and a video call with three GH ladies -- Cynthia Watros (Nina Reeves), Maura West (Ava Jerome), and Laura Wright (Carly Spencer).
You can stream Daytime Stands Up: A Benefit for Stand Up To Cancer on May 16 from 8-11 PM EST on StandUpToCancer.org/DaytimeStandsUp. It will also be simulcast on The Locher Room and The Michael Fairman Channel.
