Former NBC soap Passions is known for being one of the most bizarre and over-the-top soap operas in daytime history. The series explored witchcraft, time hopping, and a slew of other outlandish topics that viewers still talk about today. But one storyline in particular had a long-lasting effect on McKenzie Westmore, who played the role of Sheridan Crane on the now-defunct soap.
The actress attended a recent Passions reunion and shared that her real-life pregnancy had a very real effect on her alter ego's storyline -- and vice versa.
"I was pregnant, had suffered a miscarriage, but they had already written the pregnancy into my storyline," she recalled during an interview with Too Fab. "They had my character in a pit for a long time, and they had my character almost suffer a miscarriage herself, as I had already gone through my own miscarriage, and then they had my character give birth."
The resulting story beats tore Westmore's heart out, but the show had to go on.
"That was really mentally hard for me to give birth to a baby on-camera, having just months ago lost my own," she reveals." I read that and was like, 'I can't believe I'm doing this right now.' That was tough. I took a lot of therapy afterwards."
After leaving Passions in 2008, Westmore went on to star as All My Children's Dr. Riley Sinclair and now hosts the makeup-centered reality challenge series Face Off on the SyFy channel.
