The Easter bunny didn't just deliver bunches of Easter baskets this year: the seasonal animal has also given soap fans a fun surprise in the form of Cameron Mathison joining General Hospital!
The beloved television personality -- who currently co-hosts Hallmark's Home & Family and is also known for his thirteen-year run as All My Children leading man Ryan Lavery -- has signed on to the ABC soap opera in an as yet undisclosed role. Deadline was the first to report the exciting news.
As Soap Central recently reported, Mathison's Hallmark talk show is set to end in August, when its current (ninth) season comes to a close.
Mathison starred as AMC's Ryan Lavery from 1998 to 2011, earning two Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2002 and 2005 for his work on the ABC soap opera. During his thirteen years in Pine Valley, Mathison had romances with several of the soap's leading ladies, including Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) and Greenlee Smythe (Rebecca ).
Mathison joined Hallmark Channel's Home & Family in 2018 as a replacement for Mark Steines opposite co-host Debbie Matenopoulos. He also previously served as feature correspondent for Good Morning America, Entertainment Tonight, and Extra. He also co-hosted the 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
So, will Mathison be reprising his role as AMC's Ryan? Or has GH cast him as a brand-new character? Keep checking back to Soap Central for updates as they happen!
