THE y say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas -- but not this year. This year, soapcentral.com's Red Carpet Emmy coverage will be co-hosted by As the World Turns vet Martha Byrne.

This year, Soap Central's coverage of the 38th Annual Daytime Emmys will have a little extra shimmer. Two-time Emmy winner Martha Byrne (ex-Lily Snyder, As the World Turns) will co-host the 16-year-old web site's Red Carpet video coverage with Soap Central founder, Dan J Kroll.

"I will be on the red carpet hosting for Soap Central with you," Byrne told Kroll on Soap Central Live. "I know you'll be there cheering me on and helping me, and we are going to have so much fun. We're going to do some backstage stuff, we're going to be doing some one-on-one interviews. I'm so excited, because I do know everybody in daytime. But the beauty of being able to ask your friends questions -- you get really fun answers. You know you're going to get some fun answers from your people. And between Jeanne Cooper (Katherine, Y&R), Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, Y&R), and... I can go on and on. But I know that you will get some fantastic interviews. And I have some plans -- I have some fun little side tips on the side to do to make my pit stop on the Red Carpet to be the best and most fun."

In addition to her hosting duties on the Red Carpet -- Byrne also has a little bit of business to tend to at this year's Daytime Emmys. Byrne has been nominated in the Outstanding Special Class Short Format Daytime category as the executive producer of the soap star-studded web series, Gotham.

Byrne is a two-time Emmy winner. She picked up her first award in 1987's Outstanding Ingénue category, the precursor to Outstanding Younger Actress category. In 2001, Byrne was named Outstanding Lead Actress. She picked up additional Outstanding Lead Actress nominations in 2002 and 2005.

In 2009, Byrne took on writing duties for The Bold and the Beautiful on a trial basis. That same year, she appeared as Andrea Floyd on General Hospital.

Kroll started Soap Central in 1995 as part of his personal web page. The web site quickly became the most-visited soap opera web site. Consider an expert on all things soap, Kroll has been the go-to person for National Public Radio, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the San Diego Union Tribune, and Canada's National Post. He also appeared in the six-part soapy reality series, Relative Madness.

The Daytime Emmys will air June 19 at 8:00pm on CBS.
