With so many recent on-screen mentions of Sarah Horton, Days of our Lives fans knew it was only a matter of time before the M.I.A character would pop back up on the NBC soap opera, and that time has come -- Linsey Godfrey has indeed stepped back into the role.
Soaps reports that the actress will return to the screen the week of January 17, when Sarah shocks Gwen (Emily O'Brien) by unexpectedly arriving on her doorstep. Will fur fly between the two women? It's a big possibility, considering everything that Sarah has been through, in part because of scheming Gwen, who has known about Sarah's whereabouts for months,but has kept quiet in order to keep Sarah's love, Xander (Paul Telfer), to herself!
It all started when Sarah disappeared from Salem back in the spring of 2021, after she discovered that Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) was posing as Susan. Kristen was desperate to keep Sarah quiet, so she injected her with Rolf's serum, shipped her off to DiMera Island, and donned a very convincing Sarah mask to break up with Xander and make everyone believe that she had run off with Rex (Kyle Lowder). Though still mourning "Sarah's" sudden change of heart, Xander got caught up in Gwen's drama, and the two began carrying on a relationship.
Later, when Kristen was facing jail time for various crimes, she revealed Sarah's fate to Gwen and threatened to tell Xander the truth about Sarah's whereabouts -- unless Gwen helped Kristen break out of jail. Gwen succumbed to the blackmail and has known about Sarah's true fate and location ever since -- which isn't going to sit well with Xander or Sarah when the latter returns!
Godfrey took on her DAYS role in 2018, but she announced in early spring of 2021 that she was no longer part of NBC's sole soap. "It's truly been a pleasure. A massive thank you to @nbcdays for the opportunity to play Sarah & all 86 of her hairstyles," the actress shared at the time, making reference to her various haircuts over the years. "Thank you to casting, production, and the crew! Also thank you to the amazing cast I got to work with! I have made some lifelong friends that I cherish."
Prior to joining DAYS, Godfrey had a six-year run as Caroline Spencer on The Bold and the Beautiful. Some of her other credits include Dead House, Surface, and appearances on The Young and the Restless as her B&B character, Caroline, in 2014.
