After several days of speculation, Days of our Lives has confirmed that Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair Cramer, One Life to Live) has joined the cast of Days of our Lives. The NBC soap has also revealed that DePaiva will be playing the role of Eve Donovan.
"We are excited to welcome Kassie to the DAYS family," co-Executive Producer Greg Meng explained. "Stay tuned to find out how the return of Eve Donovan shakes things up in Salem!"
In her New Year's message to fans, the Emmy-nominated actress wrote, "Good things are ahead this year and I hope to have more to report very soon."
Almost immediately, fans began to speculate on what the news might be. Could One Life to Live be returning again? Then several fans noticed that the actress had suddenly started following and engaging with Days of our Lives actors on Twitter. Then the whispers began.
"DONE DEAL? I'm hearing it's OFFICIAL," TVGuide Magazine's Michael Logan wrote on Twitter earlier this week.
Rumblings that Eve Donovan could be brought back into the fold first surfaced in December, when former DAYS star Charlotte Ross revealed that she'd had an "awesome" meeting with DAYS execs. This will mark the first on-screen appearance of Eve Donovan since 1991.
"I had to pass on reprising my FAVE role, Eve Donovan," Ross shared on Twitter after news of DePaiva's hiring broke. "I'm currently filming 3 projects and I know Kassie will be wonderful!"
Ross took the opportunity to reveal some news of her own -- she's joining the cast of ABC's primetime drama, Nashville.
DePaiva is best known for her work as Blair Cramer on One Life to Live -- and a brief crossover as the same character on General Hospital. DePaiva debuted on OLTL in December 1993. In 2005, she earned an Outstanding Lead Actress Daytime Emmy nomination.
Prior to joining One Life to Live, DePaiva spent five years as Chelsea Reardon on Guiding Light.
UPDATE (June 3, 2014):
DePaiva's first airdate has been announced as June 18, 2014.
