Millicent Greenlee was originally introduced as a bossy town gossip --- with a very, very rich husband. Millicent took delight in ridiculing anyone who was not up to her social status or anyone she felt was less of a person than herself.
Among Millicent's first "victims" were Stuart and Marian Chandler. Millicent thought very poorly of Stuart because of his simple approach to life. Millicent pledged to help vote Stuart in an uppity society if Marian convinced Scott to date Greenlee, Millicent's granddaughter. Millicent really had no intention of helping Stuart or Marian. When Marian realized that Millicent was jerking her around, she unfurled with a colorful assessment of what she really thought of Millicent. From that point on, Millicent's gossiping lessened greatly, though the frequency with which she was seen also diminished.
