A little Southern charm is headed to Netflix via the upcoming drama series Sweet Magnolias, which stars All My Children alum Justin Bruening (ex-Jamie Martin) opposite Jamie Lynn Spears.
The romantic series, based on novels by writer Sherryl Woods, is set to follow "three South Carolina women, best friends since high school, as they shepherd each other through the complexities of romance, career, and family."
JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott, and Heather Headley have been cast to play the leads in Sweet Magnolias, while Bruening, Chris Klein, and Jamie Lynn Spears -- a.k.a. the little sister of global pop sensation Britney Spears -- have signed on as series regulars.
Netflix has yet to release an airdate for Sweet Magnolias, but filming began in July, so it shouldn't be long before the show is available for streaming.
Bruening won the hearts of daytime fans with his portrayal of AMC's Jamie, which he played from 2003 to 2007 and again in 2011. His other credits include Grey's Anatomy, Ringer, Switched at Birth, Hawaii Five-0, Ravenswood, and Good Behavior.
