James Bond prefers his martinis shaken, not stirred. So how fitting is it that the latest bit of soap opera news has shaken up the daytime world? Former All My Children actor Aiden Turner (ex-Aiden Devane) has been rumored to have a chance of replacing Daniel Craig as the next James Bond.
With Craig reportedly "done" with the film franchise and its accompanying $26 million salary, British actor Tom Hiddleston (The Night Manager) has emerged as the fan favorite candidate replacement with 1/4 odds of playing the famous character. And MSN reports that Aidan Turner is the second favorite candidate, with 7/2 odds of eventually becoming Mr. Bond.
Unfortunately, many soap fans weren't as spy-savvy as Turner's former AMC alter ego and didn't catch the fact that the Aidan MSN mentions spells his name with an "A" and is known for his role in The Hobbit, while the British soap alum daytime fans love spells his name with an "E" -- meaning it's all a huge case of mistaken identity.
For soap fans that may be reeling from the mix-up, here's a Bond-related quote from Tomorrow Never Dies that may sum things up: You forgot the first rule of media, give the people what they want!
