Thad Luckinbill back at the Y&R studio

Thad Luckinbill has been spotted back at The Young and the Restless, and now fans are wondering if the show might finally be set to reveal what happened to J.T. Hellstrom.

File this one under "Things that make you go hmm..." Typically, soap operas do whatever they can to keep certain storyline points under wraps. So, it was somewhat perplexing when, earlier today, The Young and the Restless' Twitter account posted a photo of Thad Luckinbill (J.T. Hellstrom) having what was described as a "coffee break" on set.

Fans immediately lit up Twitter with an abundance of theories. After all, Luckinbill could have been back on set for any number of reasons. Let's see... there's the "visiting old friends" explanation... the "he forgot something in his dressing room" option, and, of course, the very real possibility that Luckinbill was back at work.

As you might expect, Y&R had no additional comment after posting the photo. When asked for comment, the show cheekily told Soap Central to "stay tuned."

Fans, who seem to have zeroed in on the "he was back at work" option, are now trying to figure out what sort of story might be bringing the actor back. Is the show creating some new flashbacks? Was the J.T. we saw recently on-screen some sort of evil twin or look-alike? Is J.T. still alive? If J.T. is still alive, would the show really bring him back now that the character has been revealed to be an abuser?

There are so many questions and, as of right now, very few answers. It is worth noting that Y&R's new showrunners are at the helm, and recently re-hired head writer Josh Griffith's material should be hitting the airwaves in mid-to-late March -- right about the time that scenes being taped now would air.

So, while the gears spin into overdrive in fans' minds, it might be best to follow in Luckinbill's footsteps: have a nice cup of something to drink and then sit back and stay tuned.

What do you think about Luckinbill's return to Y&R? Might J.T. still be alive, or is this some sort of publicity push to get fans talking? We want to hear from you -- so drop your comments in the Comments section below, tweet about it on Twitter, share it on Facebook, or chat about it on our Message Boards.
