Steffy Forrester is the daughter of Ridge Forrester and Taylor Hayes; Steffy and her identical twin sister, Phoebe Forrester, were born after Taylor suffered through tuberculosis during pregnancy. Steffy was named for her grandmother, Stephanie Forrester. During a boat trip in St. Thomas, two-year-old Steffy supposedly fell overboard and was presumed dead in a shark attack, but Morgan DeWitt, a deranged woman who once was forced to abort Ridge's baby, had kidnapped Steffy and dyed her hair red to pass Steffy off as her daughter. Steffy was rescued when Ridge crashed through Morgan's house in his car.
Steffy was devastated when Taylor died in an altercation with the nefarious Sheila Carter; Steffy was partially raised by Brooke Logan, whom Ridge remarried. Steffy reunited with her parents when it was revealed that Taylor's "body" had been replaced with a dummy by Taylor's former husband, Prince Omar of Morocco, who was keeping Taylor at his palace. Steffy and Phoebe went to London to attend boarding school; while Phoebe returned to Los Angeles, Steffy remained overseas.
Now said to be Phoebe's fraternal twin, Steffy came home from college and worked in the mail room of her family's design house, Forrester Creations, where Steffy met Marcus Walton. Steffy dated Marcus, but gently turned down his proposal after becoming interested in Rick Forrester, who had been involved with both Steffy's mother and sister. Though Steffy initially railed at Rick for his womanizing and blamed him for the car accident which claimed a confrontational Phoebe, Steffy bonded with Rick in her grief, raising the ire of her entire family.
After Steffy agreed to marry Rick, Ridge played her a recording in which Rick admitted he was only romancing Steffy to get back at longtime rival Ridge. Steffy forgave Rick but ultimately let him go because of the dissension their relationship caused within her family. Steffy later turned down Marcus' attempt at a reunion.
To ensure that Ridge and Taylor remarried, Steffy and her brother, Thomas Forrester, faked text messages from Brooke, but Steffy was exposed when Brooke stopped the wedding. Steffy made moves on the married Owen Knight, then developed an attraction to the equally married Bill Spencer, Jr. Steffy kissed Bill before his wedding to Brooke's sister, Katie Logan, whom Bill made CEO of Forrester after he took over the company; Steffy attempted to seduce Bill and swiped Katie's engagement ring, saying she would go to Katie if Bill didn't sign Forrester over to her. Steffy edged out "the Logans" by dividing the company's stock between her grandfather Eric Forrester, Stephanie, Ridge, and Taylor.
Steffy worked against Hope Logan by trying to steal her boyfriend, Oliver Jones, and publicly embarrassing Hope by making her "Hope for the Future" sign read "HO for the Future" during a fashion show. Steffy didn't get the chance to publicize Oliver's footage of Bridget Forrester sleeping with the married Owen, but Steffy was able to strike out at Brooke when Brooke mistakenly cheated on Ridge with Oliver at Hope's costumed graduation party. Steffy's attempt to blackmail Brooke and Oliver was defused by Brooke, who confessed to Ridge. Steffy was forced to assemble a video tribute to Brooke, but computer tech Liam Cooper accidentally recorded Steffy talking about Brooke's betrayal; Steffy was blamed when her words were dubbed onto her video by Bill's right-hand man Justin Barber and leaked online.
Angry with Ridge, Steffy contemplated selling Bill the 25% share of Forrester given to her by Taylor. Instead, after a failed attempt to entice Liam away from Hope, Steffy transferred to Forrester International. Coming home with Bill on her mind, Steffy saved Amber Moore when Bill plotted to kill Amber for trapping Liam with a pregnancy. Steffy begged Bill for help when Thomas was lost at sea; Steffy and Bill became closer through the ordeal, but Steffy was distraught that Bill wouldn't leave Katie for her.
Steffy and Bill nearly made love, but Taylor caught them and told Katie. Heartbroken when Bill went back on his promise to leave Katie, Steffy slipped and nearly drowned in a bathtub until she was rescued by Liam. Steffy let Liam know she was sexually available, unlike Hope, who wanted to remain a virgin until her wedding night. Steffy was thrilled when Liam gave her the engagement ring Hope left behind after catching Steffy and Liam kissing; Steffy worked with Bill to keep Liam and Hope apart, spiriting Liam away to Aspen and marrying him while Hope was forced to watch their wedding from a gondola.
Steffy and Liam vacationed at the same resort as Thomas and Hope; Steffy tried to keep Liam from seeing Hope, which led to Steffy being thrown from an ATV. Steffy was diagnosed with a blood clot in her brain that was said to be life-threatening under stress; after it was revealed that Bill faked Steffy's MRI to keep her and Liam together, Steffy held out for a proper divorce from Liam instead of granting him an annulment. Steffy debuted a ski line in Aspen, where Hope, hopped up on antianxiety pills, crashed into Steffy on the slopes. When Liam stayed by Steffy's side in the hospital, Steffy signed Liam's annulment papers, which he tore up.
Steffy grudgingly travelled to Puglia, Italy, for Liam and Hope's wedding; when Hope was a no-show, Steffy welcomed Liam's surprise kiss, but was disappointed when Liam married Hope anyway. Steffy watched the wedding from a distance and fell into the Adriatic Sea. After Hope saw a video of Steffy and Liam kissing and demanded a "do-over" wedding, Steffy took Liam out partying the night before. Once Hope left Liam at the altar for showing up with dyed hair and a tattoo, Steffy informed Liam she would be there for him, and they went parasailing in Aspen.
Steffy spied Liam and Hope kissing; finding out she was pregnant, Steffy refused to tell Liam, giving him time to decide between her and Hope instead. But when Steffy got wind of Liam and Hope's surprise wedding, Steffy stopped it with news of her pregnancy. Steffy rode up the aisle of her own wedding to Liam on a motorcycle; though Liam asked her not to ride again until after the baby was born, Steffy risked it and took a spill that caused her to miscarry. Steffy told unlikely confidante Katie that a botched D&C procedure had left her sterile, then divorced Liam and moved to Paris. Later, Steffy underwent a procedure that restored her fertility and told Liam about it on his wedding day to Hope at the urging of Quinn Fuller, whose son, Wyatt Fuller, wanted Hope for herself. Steffy settled in France after Liam said his heart was with Hope.
When Liam came to her begging her to help oust tyrannical Forrester CEO Rick, Steffy announced she would only contribute her 25% share in the company if Liam ditched his current girlfriend, Ivy Forrester, making her point in a bikini. Liam refused, but Steffy later combined her stocks with Ridge, Thomas, and Bill after Ridge told her not to make Liam's return a condition in their takeover plan. Though furious when Liam married the Australian Ivy to keep her in the country, Steffy finally got her chance to reunite with Liam, drawing the ire of young Aly Forrester, whose mother, Darla Einstein, had died falling into the path of Taylor's car. Steffy defended herself against Aly's accusations of promiscuity and implored the increasingly unstable Aly to accept Ridge's California Freedom line, which featured bikinis, lingerie, and transgender models.
After a successful showing, Steffy's car got a flat on the same stretch of highway where Darla died. When Aly nearly ran Steffy down and came at her with a tire iron, Steffy grabbed it and swung at Aly, who hit her head on a rock and died. Steffy stashed the tire iron in the bushes but was horrified when Ivy presented a video in which it looked like Steffy had killed Aly and demanded to be made the New Face of Forrester. After Wyatt got Ivy to delete the incriminating clip, Steffy avenged herself by making the conservative Ivy model lingerie until Liam brokered peace between the cousins. It didn't last long: Steffy found out Ivy had been kissing Thomas behind Wyatt's back and torpedoed their relationship; Steffy's confrontations ended with Ivy getting electrocuted by live wires and falling down the stairs.
Steffy's engagement to Liam hit the skids when she violated Ivy's restraining order; Steffy allowed herself to be comforted by Wyatt and fell asleep with him in bed. Steffy didn't know that Liam had seen them and couldn't understand why he'd dumped her. When Liam mysteriously left town, Steffy called Hope and Ivy to see if they knew where he was. Spending more time with Wyatt, Steffy soon married him but got the shock of her life when a disheveled Liam appeared, having been held captive by Quinn while suffering from amnesia. It disturbed Steffy to learn that Quinn had Liam believing they were man and wife, and that they'd slept together.
Steffy was outraged at the Spencer Summit in Monte Carlo when she caught Quinn in a romantic clinch with Eric; Steffy slapped Quinn to the ground. Steffy supported Ridge's boycott of Quinn's wedding to Eric, but felt bad when Eric was hospitalized with a brain hemorrhage after he raged at his family for their lack of support. Steffy helped Ridge keep it a secret that Eric had given Quinn power of attorney; when Wyatt ratted Steffy out, she left him. With Quinn as interim CEO, Steffy tried to sabotage her showing by refusing to model the showstopper, a move which backfired on Steffy when Quinn modeled it instead and won raves.
Steffy accepted the position of CEO herself and hinted to Liam that if they pooled their stock with Eric's, they'd have enough to force Quinn out of the company. Steffy refused Eric offering her a million dollars and the mansion if she stayed with Wyatt; instead, Steffy moved in with Thomas until her divorce from Wyatt was final. Steffy stopped a frustrated Liam from leaving town with the news she'd fast-tracked her divorce, and took Ivy's suggestion to marry Liam in Australia in a double wedding with Ridge and Brooke. Steffy butted heads with Rick and Thomas after she was asked to split her CEO duties with Ridge instead of one of them.
Steffy made an instant enemy of fledgling designer Sally Spectra, the namesake grandniece of infamous knockoff queen Sally Spectra. Goaded into a public foodfight with Sally, Steffy was furious to learn that Sally had uploaded a viral video of it to piggyback on Steffy's social media presence. Steffy caught Sally masquerading as a caterer at the wedding of her cousin, Zende Forrester Dominguez, and shoved Sally's face into the cake. Then, in Sydney, Steffy zip-lined into her wedding and exchanged vows with Liam, only to find Sally on Thomas' arm; Steffy laughed when Sally fell into the water as a result of their argument.
Steffy demanded Sally be arrested when Sally stole Forrester designs by planting cameras in jewelry belonging to her sister, Forrester intern Coco Spectra. When Steffy learned Sally had only ripped off Forrester because Bill wanted to build a skyscraper on Spectra Fashions' lot and sabotaged Sally's original work, Steffy told Thomas, which led to Thomas investing $100,000 in Spectra and defecting to that company. Steffy reluctantly gave novice designer Zende her brother's position but accused Sally of using Thomas to breathe new life into Spectra. Steffy led Forrester in a swimsuit fashion duel with Spectra in Monte Carlo after posing for a calendar teasing the showing.
Steffy grabbed a gun when she learned that Eric, who had left Quinn, was staying at a motel with Sheila Carter, Eric's criminal ex-wife who was responsible for Taylor's near-death. Believing Sheila had her own gun in her purse, Steffy shot Sheila in the arm when she thought Sheila was reaching for it. Though she was grateful that Sheila uncharacteristically helped cover up the shooting, Steffy spat bullets when she found out Eric had walked out on Quinn for kissing Ridge several times.
Steffy brought Thomas' ex-love and the mother of his child, Caroline Spencer, back from New York to lure him away from Sally. Steffy was happy when Thomas left Sally and went back to the Big Apple with Caroline, but horrified to learn Bill had convinced Caroline to lie she was dying to reunite her with Thomas and make Spectra ripe for a takeover. Steffy talked Liam into keeping quiet about it, yet felt genuinely bad for Sally when Spectra went up in flames. Steffy couldn't believe Bill had arranged the fire, disapproving when Liam recorded Bill's confession and used it to force Bill out of Spencer Publications.
Steffy got closer to Bill trying to broker peace between him and Liam, and ended up searching for Liam in the rubble of Spectra when Bill unknowingly blew up the building with Liam and Sally inside. Steffy saved Sally, then walked out on Liam when she discovered he had kissed Sally; in her upset, Steffy made love to Bill. Steffy tried to tell Liam, but got caught up in his vow-renewal ceremony. When Steffy learned she was pregnant, she had a paternity test done to make sure the baby wasn't Bill's; it was confirmed to be Liam's, but Steffy lost Liam when he came upon the test results.
Steffy was unable to convince Ridge that she had slept with Bill willingly. Steffy turned down Bill's proposal of marriage and was horrified to learn he'd been shot in the back; Steffy had to deprogram Liam, who'd given himself another concussion and thought he'd pulled the trigger. Steffy couldn't believe it when it turned out Taylor had tried to kill Bill; Steffy was able to talk Bill into not going to the police, but found herself forced to sign Liam's annulment papers when Bill implied he might turn Taylor in anyway.
When Steffy discovered Bill had faked a continuing "affair" with her and used Wyatt to relay that "information" to Liam, Steffy slammed the door on an amorous Bill and fell, going into premature labor. With Liam on hand, Steffy welcomed their daughter, Kelly, whom Steffy named after Liam's deceased mother. Steffy stalled setting a wedding date when Bill threatened to jail Taylor if Steffy married Liam. By the time Bill relented, Steffy found out Hope was pregnant by Liam. Steffy put her engagement ring on Hope's finger.
Steffy briefly considered marrying Bill but changed her mind, still coming away with his 12.5% share of Forrester stock that he'd promised her as a wedding gift. Steffy agreed to form a blended family with Liam, Hope, and their children, then decided to stand on her own as a single parent. Steffy channeled her new "I choose me" mantra into Forrester's lingerie line, Intimates. Steffy accepted Hope's invitation to her wedding to Liam, but regretted bringing Taylor after Steffy and Hope caught Taylor and Brooke hurling wedding cake at each other.
Steffy ruffled further feathers at Forrester by hiring Sally as a designer for Intimates. Steffy continued offering support to Taylor, who was obsessed with the fear that Bill would send her to jail; Steffy also tried to calm Liam and Hope after Taylor went off on them for stealing Steffy's life. Steffy demanded that her parents stop using their mistaken impression Bill had violated her as an excuse to hate him. Steffy continued to insist that Taylor was not a danger to Liam and Hope, or to baby Kelly, after the couple learned that Taylor had shot Bill.
Steffy adopted a baby with the help of Taylor, who had learned of an infant who needed a home. Naming the child Phoebe after her deceased sister, Steffy worried when Hope, who had just lost Liam's child, instantly bonded with the baby. Steffy repeatedly tried to talk the suffering Hope down when Hope kept insisting Steffy should reunite with Liam and raise her babies with him. After taking an extended trip to Paris with Kelly and Phoebe to give Hope a chance to heal, Steffy returned only to find Hope asking her to let Liam move in. Steffy enjoyed raising her girls with Liam, but specifically told Liam it didn't mean there would be a romantic reunion, even after an unusually emboldened Liam made love to Steffy after a party.
Steffy encouraged the returning Thomas, who wanted to marry Hope and create a family for his now-motherless son, Douglas. Steffy paled when Phoebe crawled up to Hope during the wedding and called her "mama,” and when Douglas insisted that Phoebe was really Hope's dead daughter, Beth. Steffy soon learned that Hope's obstetrician, Reese Buckingham, had stolen Hope's baby and switched it with a stillborn child. After realizing that she had inadvertently adopted Hope's baby, the sobbing Steffy handed the child back to Hope and collapsed in Ridge's arms. Steffy refused to forgive when it came out Thomas had kept quiet about Phoebe being Hope's daughter all along.
Steffy lent Liam an ear when Hope started spending time with Douglas, deciding to help Liam unearth Thomas' true motives for designing for Hope and asking the rehired Zoe Buckingham, whose father had stolen Beth, to spy on Thomas, but the scheme didn't go very far. After Hope turned down Liam's proposal because she wouldn't give up custody of Douglas, Steffy had a houseguest in Liam and kissed him abruptly when Thomas called telling Steffy, “you know what to do.” Steffy felt terrible that Hope saw the kiss but bowed to Thomas' command to keep quiet. Though she accepted a kiss from Liam, Steffy realized that Liam's heart was really with Hope.
Steffy was skeptical when Thomas started dating Zoe and suddenly proposed to her. Once Steffy learned that Thomas had designed wedding dresses for both Zoe and Hope, Steffy realized her brother was still obsessed with Hope and came clean to Hope and Liam about the kiss she had helped Thomas stage. At Thomas' wedding to Zoe, Steffy took part in a plot to expose Thomas, which included Hope arriving in the wedding dress he had made for her; after Thomas tipped his hand by jilting Zoe at the altar, Steffy stood by Hope in letting the family know how Thomas had used everyone to bag Hope, and watched as Thomas ran out of the wedding in shame.
Steffy took a ride on her motorcycle and got hit by a car driven by Bill. Having suffered a back injury and fractured ribs, Steffy struggled to take care of Kelly once she was released from the hospital and asked her doctor, John "Finn" Finnegan, for more pain pills. Only being allowed the one extra prescription, Steffy was surprised to find a bottle of illegal pills in a care package from Thomas' friend, Vinny Walker. Steffy passed out on her couch and was awoken by a concerned Liam, but Steffy began lashing out at both Liam and Hope, who were taking care of Kelly for her; Steffy accused them of trying to steal Kelly and even threatened them with a knife. Steffy initially balked at the intervention staged on her by Liam, Ridge, and Finn, but eventually agreed she had a problem and went through rehab.
Once Steffy was released, she realized she had feelings for Finn, with whom she had been developing a friendship. Steffy was happy that Finn reciprocated her feelings, but not so much that Liam disapproved and felt Finn had missed the signs of Steffy's addiction because of his infatuation with her. Steffy was surprised when Liam finally admitted he had been jealous and that he would stay out of her personal life.
After Liam came to Steffy with news that Thomas was keeping a life-sized mannequin of Hope in his apartment, neither Steffy nor Hope shared his concern. Steffy and Hope agreed that Thomas was trying to improve himself. But when Liam visited Steffy, ranting that he had seen Hope kissing Thomas, Steffy shared drinks with Liam and ended up in bed with him. Steffy found herself pregnant and unsure if Liam or Finn was the father. Despite wanting Finn to have fathered her child, her paternity test listed Liam instead, leaving Steffy to repeatedly assure Finn he was the one she wanted to be with.
Steffy decided she didn't want Finn to have to watch her carrying Liam's baby, so she planned to take Kelly and leave town for the duration. However, Steffy was pleasantly shocked when Finn came after her with the news that Vinny had tampered with her test to free up Hope for Thomas -- Finn was actually the father of her child. Steffy then accepted Finn's proposal before taking a different trip up the California coast with Kelly. Later, Steffy and Finn learned they were having a boy, which Steffy delivered via a water birth. Steffy named the baby Hayes in honor of her mother (although "Hayes" was the surname of Taylor's first husband and not her maiden name, which was Hamilton).
When Finn wanted to have an informal wedding on the spot, Steffy held off because she wanted first to meet Finn's parents, whom Finn had been quiet about. Steffy was pleasantly surprised when Finn's father, Jack Finnegan, showed up unannounced; Steffy took it in stride when she learned Finn had been adopted. After also meeting Finn's adoptive mother, Li Finnegan, Steffy exchanged vows with Finn. During the reception, Steffy was horrified when Finn brought in his biological mother whom he had just met -- Sheila Carter! Steffy filled Finn in on the crimes Sheila had committed against her family (including causing Taylor's presumed death) and begged Finn not to have any contact with Sheila. However, Steffy raged when she came home unexpectedly and found Sheila holding baby Hayes; Steffy ordered Finn out of the house and held off filing the marriage certificate that would make their marriage legal. When Sheila collapsed during a confrontation with Finn, Steffy was certain that Sheila was faking and was proven right when doctors couldn't find anything wrong with Sheila. Steffy threatened Sheila with retribution if Sheila didn't stay away.
Steffy was overjoyed when Taylor moved home after a multi-year absence, but Steffy objected when Taylor suggested that Steffy let Sheila spend Christmas with Finn and Hayes, at least until Taylor added that it would give her a chance to observe Sheila. Steffy ultimately rejected her own long-held concept of having a blended family with Hope and drew battle lines between Ridge's family with Brooke and Ridge's family with Taylor, pushing Ridge to reunite with Taylor. Steffy shared in Taylor's confusion when both Ridge and Brooke were cagey about the state of their marriage. Steffy later found out that recovering alcoholic Brooke had gotten drunk and kissed her ex, Deacon Sharpe, while Ridge was out of town. After Ridge came to stay with her and Taylor, Steffy continued to impress upon Ridge that he was better off without Brooke and championed Taylor.
Steffy became concerned when she saw Thomas in heavy conversation with Sheila; rather than confront Thomas, Steffy shared her disquiet with Finn. Finally, Steffy found out that Thomas was keeping the secret that Sheila had gotten Brooke drunk on purpose to sabotage Brooke's marriage to Ridge. Steffy got confirmation from Sheila and vowed that Sheila would never see Finn or Hayes again, which resulted in Steffy facing down the barrel of Sheila's gun. Steffy was horrified when Finn ran in and took the bullet meant for her. Steffy begged Sheila to let her call the paramedics, but the next thing Steffy knew, she woke up in the hospital, having been told that she had been shot in an apparent robbery. Steffy couldn't remember the shooting, but she did become convinced that Liam was still her husband.
Steffy's memories began to come back after Liam and her family told her about Finn. Steffy soon realized that Sheila had shot both her and Finn, so she wore a wire and lured Sheila to her house with the promise of seeing Hayes. Steffy was relieved when Sheila confessed and was carted off to prison, but Steffy couldn't understand it when Finn's adoptive mother, Li, was unexpectedly resistant to the idea of holding a memorial service for Finn. At her parents' insistence, Steffy left town to get away from memories of Finn, eventually checking into a clinic for depression in Monte Carlo. After lighting candles for Finn in an ornate church, Steffy emerged, only to find a very-much-alive Finn waiting for her. Steffy's reaction was confusion and joy as Finn explained how Li had saved his life and Sheila had long detained the bedridden Finn.
Steffy breathed a sigh of relief when Sheila was declared dead as the victim of a bear mauling, and returned to pressuring her parents to get back together. Concurrently, Steffy advocated for Thomas' desire to regain full custody of Douglas just as strongly. Steffy prevented Brooke from talking to Ridge, then accompanied Taylor to Aspen, where Taylor wanted to reexamine the merits of waiting for Ridge. Steffy was overjoyed when Ridge arrived in Aspen and reunited with Taylor. Just before her parents' wedding, Sheila learned from Douglas that Thomas has used his voice-sampling app to fake a call to Child Protective Services in Brooke's voice, which had caused Ridge to leave Brooke. Steffy exposed Thomas at the altar and joined with Ridge and Eric in ousting Thomas from Forrester Creations as punishment.
Steffy couldn't believe it when Finn examined the toe left behind at the scene of Sheila's death and determined that Sheila had cut it off herself and faked her demise. Steffy bumped into a woman outside a restaurant restroom who only had nine toes -- it turned out to be Sheila in disguise, but in Steffy's shock, Steffy let Sheila get away. Steffy blanched when Sheila showed up on her door with Bill, who threatened to jail Taylor for his long-ago shooting if Steffy and Finn testified against Sheila. Steffy and Finn helplessly kept quiet during Sheila's hearing, which set Sheila free and left the Finnegans' hands tied.
When Thomas took Hope to court for full custody of Douglas but let Douglas decide where he wanted to live, Steffy was shocked when the boy chose her. Steffy put her foot down with Thomas, who thought his son staying with his sister meant having full access to Douglas. Steffy and Thomas briefly butted heads, but settled things with the help of Taylor; afterwards, Steffy was willing to bring Thomas back to Forrester to salvage Hope's failing Hope for the Future line, but rethought it after she remembered Hope had once thought that Thomas was hot. Steffy repeatedly assured Liam that Thomas was in therapy and not likely to return to his devious ways.
Steffy received a shock when it turned out Bill had been romancing Sheila to goad her into confessing to a long-ago murder, and was grateful that Bill had arranged for Taylor to be legally absolved of shooting him. Later, Steffy suspected that Hope might have developed feelings for Thomas; in Rome for a Hope for the Future showing, Steffy tried to comfort Liam when he came to her reporting that he had seen Hope kissing Thomas. Steffy was stunned when Liam kissed her in response. Back home, when kissed by Liam again, Steffy gently reminded him that she was happily married to Finn. That marriage took a hit when Sheila was released from jail and Finn seemed to grow more sympathetic towards her -- Steffy moved out for a time, but during her eventual homecoming, Sheila showed up unannounced. Steffy packed up her kids and flew to Rome, where Liam called her to ask her to come home -- to him.
When Steffy returned home a second time, she took a fearless stance toward Sheila and punched her to prove her point. Meanwhile, Steffy learned that Hope and Thomas had entered into a relationship and demanded to know if Hope had real feelings for her brother. Steffy joined her family in a vigil for Eric when he appeared to be dying, though she shared everyone's relief when he recovered thanks to a experimental treatment devised by Finn.
Steffy confronted Sheila and punched her again when Sheila turned up in a selfie taken by Kelly at Il Giardino, the restaurant where Sheila worked. When Sheila broke into Steffy's house and menaced her in response, Steffy grabbed a knife and stabbed Sheila; afterwards, paramedics declared Sheila dead. Steffy worried when everybody supported her act of self-defense except Finn, who repeatedly insisted that Steffy had killed his mother. Concurrently, when Steffy learned that Hope had once again turned down Thomas' marriage proposal, Steffy accused Hope of using Thomas for sex and tried to talk Thomas into dumping Hope, reveling when she succeeded in breaking them up.
Steffy struggled with Finn continuing to mourn for Sheila, but when Finn came to her with a story that Deacon had told him about Sheila possibly being alive, Steffy ranted to anyone who would listen that Sheila was indeed dead. Meanwhile, Steffy inadvertently ran into a visiting Ivy, whom Steffy caught planting a kiss on Liam. Steffy seemed to be jealous and whisked Liam away under the ruse of Kelly needing him.
When Finn told her that he and Deacon had found Sheila, kidnapped but alive, Steffy refused to believe it. Steffy reeled to learn that she had stabbed Janet "Sugar" Webber, a former accomplice of Sheila's whom Sheila had once tricked into having plastic surgery to look like Sheila; Steffy had unknowingly thwarted Sugar's plan to avenge herself by killing Steffy and letting Sheila take the blame. As Steffy tried to come to grips with the fact that Sheila wasn't dead after all, Steffy warned an increasingly compassionate Finn that he couldn't have both her and Sheila in his life, and put Sheila on similar notice.
Steffy went ballistic when she saw an online photo of Finn at Sheila's wedding to Deacon; Finn had gone to Deacon's restaurant for takeout, thinking the ceremony was somewhere else. Steffy further raged to see that Hope had attended the nuptials and threatened to pull the Hope for the Future line from production. Steffy was against Hope's friendship with Finn and warned Hope to stay away from him. Steffy gloated when Thomas returned from Europe engaged to Paris Buckingham and used that fact to further antagonize Hope. Regressing to her anti-Logan stance of yesteryear, Steffy scoffed when Ridge replaced himself as co-CEO with Brooke; Steffy swore she would never work with her sometime stepmother, grimacing as Ridge rebooted Forrester's Brooke's Bedroom line and returned the aging Brooke to its role of lead model.
When two of Deacon's employees turned up dead, Steffy joined Li in announcing to the police that Sheila had to be the culprit; Steffy praised Finn after he took Steffy's side and recommended Sheila's arrest. Steffy fumed when Sheila was released, and groused with Pam over "the Logans" at a party. Steffy's ire toward Hope hit an all-time high after she learned that Hope had kissed Finn; Steffy demanded that Hope stay away from Finn, whom she walked out on. Steffy tracked Liam to Bill's house to make arrangements for Kelly in her absence, but received a shock – Steffy saw Luna Nozawa, a Forrester intern who had been determined to be Bill's long-lost daughter, kissing Bill. Steffy confronted Luna at Luna's old apartment building, which was slated for demolition, only to fall unconscious after drinking a beverage Luna had offered her. When Steffy woke up, she found herself locked in a cage.
Steffy was horrified to learn that not only was Luna not Bill's daughter after all, Luna had killed Deacon's employees: Tom Starr, Luna's real father, and Paul "Hollis" Hollister, who had stumbled upon Tom's connection to Luna himself. Steffy realized that Luna had framed her own mother, Bill's past and current lover Poppy Nozawa, as a means of obtaining Bill and his money for herself. Going days without food or drink, Steffy passed out while trying to find a way to escape her cage.
