Sofia grew up in Bay City with her father and mother. Sofia's mother, Rose, died when Sofia was very young. Sofia came to Bay City to help out her brother, Joe, with his new restaurant. Sofia is very helpful and always has something to do.
Sofia first met Nick Hudson at Carlino's and they dated. Nick asked Sofia to marry him, but Nick slept with Maggie and got her "pregnant". When Sofia found out about this, she dumped Nick and got into an accident, but Matthew Cory saved her. Matthew nursed Sofia back to health and the two started dating. However, Matthew broke off their relationship when Sofia called out Nick's name in her sleep.
Nick and Sofia's relationship was tested when Nick was accused of raping Toni Burrell. Sofia stood by her man and he was sentenced to prison. However, it was later proven that Nick did not rape Toni.
Sofia began planning her wedding to Nick, when Paulina became addicted to drugs. Sofia and Paulina had a falling out, and eventually Sofia and Joe's childhood burned down. Nick called off his wedding to Sofia after finding out that his father died. The two are coping with their loss. However, Sofia became detached to Nick, and started working with Matthew Cory. Sofia once again became infatuated with Matthew, and called off her engagement to Nick. Sofia was unable to deal with Matthew's connection to Lila because of their unborn child, and finally left Bay City.
